Wool Dryer Balls

These are wool dryer balls.  I needle felted snowmen on them.  For the color of the nose I used Kool-Aid on the yarn and then I fluffed it up and then needle felted it on the dryer ball.  My mom had black yarn for the hands and the buttons.  I cut it into pieces and fluffed it up so that I could make my dryer ball.

I made other dryer ball designs.  I needle felted an Earth.  For the water of Earth, I used two types of blue--a dark blue and a light blue.  I made a colorful polka dot dryer ball.  I made a rainbow dryer ball with smaller rainbows all around it.

If you didn't know about needle felting, it is a needle on a handle with jagged sides.   When you put the needle in the dryer ball, it pulls the wool down into it.  You stab it several times, then you rub it with your thumb to make sure the wool stays on the ball.  Then when the design is done, you put it in the dryer with a damp towel to make sure all the wool stays on.

I like decorating dryer balls because I think it is fun.  I hope you like them.
